Anti-bullfight groups maintain the idea about bullfight ban in Canary islands until very late when it became obvious when the Katalonian bullfight ban was overturned because the ban was anticonstitutional. So how could bullfight be banned in Canary Islands if they could not be banned in Katalonia? Idea of bullfight ban in Canary Islands has been kept alive by animalist groups and some local politicians up to the point where some politicians wanted to ban bullfight broadcast in Canary Islands by TVE by invoking a local law that does not exist.
