Spain: Economic impact of bullfight on Spanish economy: 3560 million euros

Bullfight Union of Valencia Community (La Unión Taurina Comunitat Valenciana) has called for compliance with the law by the politicians in a manifest today. The manifest reminded that prohibition of bullfight, obstruction of bullfight preservation and obstruction of enrichment by the bullfight is prohibited by the law. Manifest was signed by 8450 bullfight associations.

According to the information provided by the Bullfight Union of Valencia (La Unión Taurina Comunidad Valenciana), bullfight produces 139 million euros in tax income of which 45 million is ticket sales. 6150000 tickets were sol to bullfights in 2015. About 1800 bullfights and 162577 festejos were held in 2015. Bullfight creates 199000 Jobs of which 57000 are direct and 142000 are indirect. Value of the bullranch domains in Spain is 1800 million euros. Half a million bulls and cows live on these domains. The effect on Spanish economy is 3560 million euros. Each euro invested in bullfight produces 2,6 euros.

Spain: 65500 tickets sold to bullfights in Burgos province

65500 tickets were sold to bullfights in the province of Burgos in 2015. Bullfights yelded 1650000 euros. In Burgos bullring (Burgos Coliseum) 28000 tickets were sold to 5 bullfights. In Aranda de Duero 20000 tickets were sold to bullfights and in Roa 5000 tickets were sold. In smaller bullrings like Huerta de Rey 3000 tickets were sold to three bullfights.

Burgos bullring tripled the number of season ticket holders.

Spain: Madrid Las Ventas bullring season 2015 in numbers

62 bullfighters, 43 novilleros, 10 rejoneadors and 3 novilleros without picadors fought in Madrid Las Ventas bullring in the season 2015. Bullfight season started in Madrid Las Ventas on 23.3. and ended on 12.10.2015. 37 bullfights, 21 novilladas, 4 rejones bullfights and one novillada without picadors were held.

707472 tickets were sold to Las Ventas bullring, which is 1,7% more than on the previous season. Bullring was on average 61% full of spectators.

378 Bulls were fought in Las Ventas bullring of which 222 were older tan four years old. 126 novillos were fought and 24 Bulls on rejones bullfights. 6 eral´s were fought in novilladas without picadors.

78 bullranchers brought bulls to Madrid Las Ventas bullring. Adolfo Martín 14 bulls, Alcurrucén 12 bulls, Martín Lorca 12 bulls, Puerto de San Lorenzo 11 bulls, El Montecillo 10 bulls, Jandilla 10 bulls, Victoriano del Río 9 bulls, Carriquiri 8 bulls, Partido de Resina 7 bulls and Parladé 7 bulls.

Spain: Golden Medal for Merit in the Arts to Manuel Benítez "El Cordobés"

King of Spain has handed Golden Medal for Merit in the Arts (Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes) to bullfighter Manuel Benítez "El Cordobés". Award was handed over in Museo de Bellas Artes of Seville.
